After its completion in December 2021, interest in the new light rail tunnel in downtown Karlsruhe was huge. Thousands of passengers now travel through the tunnel every day and get on or off at the seven underground stops. What a masterly feat of engineering is behind the construction project, why "real" miners were deployed between the Marktplatz and Ettlinger Tor stops, why the passengers are up to their necks in (ground)water - these and many other anecdotes are revealed to the participants on this themed tour.
